Luis Pagán will represent the Island in the final of this global competition in Berlin
(Press Release) After an intense week of seminars and challenges, the maximum
worldwide cocktail platform, World Class, culminated the local Puerto Rico competition with the selection of Luis Pagán, mixologist at La Coctelera, as the winner of its tenth edition.
Luis battled Jose “Chuck” Rivera, from Jungle Bird, in the final challenge of the competition called “Pop-Up Bar”, held at la Factoria . In front of the attentive judges of the first two challenges, Pagán and Rivera demonstrated the techniques and trends learned as part of the seminars and challenges, “The Bartender Ingenious “and” The Heat of the Moment “.
Arturo Savage, Senior Ambassador of the Portfolio Reserve de Diageo, Rafael Reyes, expert in mixology and bar specialist, and Lauren Mote, multi award-winning mixologist, Sommelier and Global Cocktailian of Diageo Reserve, measured the performance of both competitors.
As part of the instructions of the final challenge, competitors had to present a unique design in their space of the bar where the 5 senses will be stimulated both with the setting, as in the
cocktails presented.
Luis Pagán, World Class Bartender Puerto Rico 2018, will represent the Island in the final global competition, to be held at the end of the year in Berlin, Germany. Pagán will have several months of preparation prior to his departure, that will raise his level of competitiveness and the necessary tools to represent Puerto Rico with the excellence that characterizes the past winners of this the local competition.
