Il Nuovo Mercato and Starbene Caffee Reopening Jun 1, 2020
Since its opening in 2016, Il Nuovo Mercato and Starbene Caffee have enjoyed a great reception with their concept of wineries and relaxed space characteristic of an Italian market.
Following the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has transformed the gastronomy industry, the space reinvents itself to meet the current situation here in Puerto Rico.
In view of a reopening this Monday, June 1 and putting into practice a protocol of revised hygiene, Il Nuovo Mercato and Starbene Caffe has restructured their general operation to continue creating experiences for diners.
At Il Nuovo Mercato, the general menu will be slightly modified for this period of quarantine maintaining freshness and Italian characteristics that distinguish it. The Menu service will be available at the table via QR code for security for the diner and to help keep the social distance. The outdoor terrace space where you can enjoy the terrace the best views of the Laguna San José, has been expanded and will also offer the same service. For Starbene Caffè, the space has been redistributed following the established guidelines but maintaining the experience of having a pleasant time while tasting a exquisite coffee or a tasty dessert.
A revision of the hygiene protocols was made to include new measures that minimize the spread of COVID-19 to employees or visitors. This includes the use of masks, gloves, more frequent handwashing and cleaning, as well as taking the temperature of the equipment and the distancing at the tables.
The restaurant has around 100 employees and most have been able to return to work in your area. In the kitchen the limit of cooks was modified, they were restructured warehouses to maintain distance between their work areas, the untensils will be disposable (practice they had previously) and services will be added soon for ‘To Go’ and delivery.

They are located on the third floor in Mall of San Juan, the hours of Il Nuovo Mercato It is maintained following the mall’s regulations on Monday, June 1 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 pm. and Starbene Caffe opens from 9:00 am.
