El Batey celebrates their 55th Anniversary with ‘UN FRACATÁN DE AÑOS ROMPIENDO NOCHE’ at La Respuesta in Santurce from 9pm on Friday March 6, 2020. Entrance is FREE
El Batey, the iconic bar on Cristo Street in Old San Juan has a history of over 5 decades creating memories and uniting different cultures, industries and generations. For the first time in its 55 years, an event will be held to celebrate their anniversary:
The event will feature collaborators and friends of the historic El Batey bar, sharing unique experiences. MUsic will be provided by: Los Verdugos, Un Final Fatal, Ultravivos y Johnny Bwoy. Local PopUp Shops are also presented: Terror and El Shop, with items and merchandise available for sale. Senzala Tattoo and Harisumi Tattoo Studio will have an artistic exhibition.
“All those who have been part or want to know a little more about El batey are invited; this is for you. We want to celebrate the lives of all who have been part, create a community, union and exchange experiences. ” expressed Mario Seijo who is in charge of the administration of El Batey for the past 2 years.
El Batey is considered and classified by many as a dive bar or a bar where you feel at home. It has a special environment created mostly by people and the scenery with elements such as music, decorations of nostalgia, creating a very friendly environment to meet up with familiar faces or create new friends. The Batey keeps on its walls decades of stories in its layers of graffiti and writings throughout the space. It is an unpretentious place where you can spend hours listening to good music, drinking beers or drinks and playing billiards.
