The Caribbean Food Championships is the new title for the established 2-day culinary competition formerly known as the Smoking Hot BBQ and this year it will take place on March 16 & 17 at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan
With a new name comes new events and the Caribbean Food Championships will still feature the BBQ category (Pork Ribs, Pork Shoulder and Beef Brisket) along with 8 new categories; Bacon, Steak; Chicken; Sandwich; Burger; Seafood; Chili; and Desserts.
Caribbean Food Championships brings together the top chefs and teams from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean and the winners of each category have the opportunity to compete in the World Food Championship Finals in Texas; where more than $350,000 of prizes will be up for grabs. Winning teams can only compete in one event at the World Food Championship Finals in Texas.
At the Caribbean Food Championships in Puerto Rico there will be spaces for 20 teams in each category and the public are welcome to attend and watch the competition unfold for free. There will also be a tasting village with a cost of $10pp and a VIP area where chefs will prepare their dishes for a cost of $40.
The VIP ticket gives you access from either 11:30am to 2pm or from 3pm to 5:30pm on both days, to the special VIP area that will offer Demonstrations, Paella Stations, Seafood, Grilling, 3 Wines or 3 Beers, and exclusive area with chefs making their creations live
